Signing up for a free Terraform Cloud account is a straightforward process. In this guide, we'll complete two steps:
- Set up prerequisites
- Create your Terraform Cloud account
- Create your organization
Set up prerequisites
While Terraform can provision resources using many different providers, in this guide, we will provision resources on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will need an AWS account to follow along.
You will also need an account on GitHub.com. Terraform Cloud supports several popular version control systems (VCSs), but in this guide, we will use GitHub.
Create your Terraform Cloud account
First, if you don't already have a Terraform Cloud account, you can create one at the Terraform Cloud application:
When you sign up, you'll also receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your e-mail address.
Create your organization
After you sign in for the first time, you'll be asked to join an existing team, or create a new organization:
To follow this guide, choose the "Create an Organization" option. On the next page, enter an organization name and e-mail address. You can use the same e-mail address that you used for your account.
In the next guide, you will create your first Terraform Cloud workspace.
